Providing print-ready artwork
Artwork
"Print Ready Artwork" supplied to Blake Printers Ltd should adhere to these criteria:
- For best results send files in PDF format.
- Files can be created using: InDesign, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop & Quark Xpress. Other Accepted file types are: Ai, EPS, TIFF, JPEG & PSD though PDF is the preferred format.
- Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher & Word files are NOT "Print Ready Artwork". Files supplied in this format may be used in some cases to print from digitally, however for lithography and most print they can be used as a reference copy only.
- Ensure that files are saved with a resolution of at least 300dpi and layers are 'Flattened' to reduce file size.
- Wherever possible all text & font should be converted to "Outlines" or "Paths" -outlining or converting text to paths eradicates the need for us to store all of the millions of fonts currently available in order that our software is able to accurately interpret your files text for printing.
- If a job is Full Colour Process (CMYK) ensure that it is saved in this format, RGB saved files can cause unexpected differences in colour once printed. Blake Printers Ltd accept NO responsibility for colour discrepancies if files are unknowingly supplied in this format.
- If a Spot (Pantone) colour is required please ensure the file is saved including the specific pantone colour required.
- If a Pantone is required as part of a CMYK job, ensure that the Pantone colour is specified. To ensure the closest match possible, refer to 'Pantone Solid to Process' colour reference guide book/swatch.
- When saving files ensure that they are saved with 3mm bleed on ALL sides (Bleed is an extra area added to the finished size of the job that is cut off once it's printed to preserve clean edges to the finished job, essential particularly where background colours are "edge to edge")
- Colour proofs provided by Blake Printers Ltd are a reference only, they are NOT an exact colour match.
- Please ensure that text, images and any other information contained within a file/job is kept at least 5mm from the finished edge of the job. It looks unsightly when information is placed close to the edge and it's often hard to read as a consequence!
